In the southern part of the Grunwald Borough, there are Grunwald Battlefields, the Grunwald Battle Museum and the Grunwald Victory Monument.

On July 15, 1410 near Grunwald took place one of the greatest battles between the Teutonic Knights (about 21,000) under the head of Ulrich von Jungingen and connected Polish, Lithuanian-Ruthenian and Czech troops (around 29,000) led by Władysław Jagiełło and Witold. The battle finished by the victory of Poles and their allies. A great master of the Order died in a large number of Teutonic Knights. The battle began the twilight of the Order's power. Every year a staging of the great battle takes place.
