The beginnings of the Marian cult in Saint Lipka date back to the 14th century. At that time, in Kętrzyn, a prisoner who was condemned to death, saw the Holy Mother who asked him to carve her figure with the Infant Jesus. The prisoner carved a statue of the Mother of God in a piece of wood during the night.
