The Elbląg Canal, which is 82 km long, due to the hydrotechnical equipment operating on it since 1860, is considered as a worldwide phenomenon. The difference in canal levels longwise of 9.6 km changes by more than 100 m, which the ship overcomes with five water-driven ramps.
